Namun begitu, kegagalan Debbie untuk melayakan diri ke Top 16 pada separuh akhir Miss Universe semalam telah meletakan seribu pertanyaan kepada peminat Deborah sendiri dan juga pengikut-pengikut Miss Universe di serata dunia. Beliau dilihat sebagai pencabar utama kepada 80 lebih peserta yang bertanding di pertandingan tersebut and Deborah was one of the favorites in EVERY SINGLE PAGEANT-RELATED website or blog! But what happened? Some possible explanations:
- Even if the preliminary judges did not pick Miss Malaysia, why didn’t the MUO? The answer could be a declared war against Miss World. Deborah participated in Miss World 2007 and was a semi-finalist, when many believed she deserved better. Another Miss World contestants who was a favorite in São Paulo, and will go back home empty-handed, is Miss Trinidad & Tobago, Gabrielle Walcott. She was Miss World’s 2nd runner-up in Miss World 2008.
- Politics. Islam is the state religion, and unfortunately, the few predominantly Muslim countries that participate in Miss Universe have been historically discriminated against, especially in recent history. Lebanon’s victory in 1971 was an exception. Look at the poor performance of Egypt, even Lebanon, Malaysia and Turkey. They all do much better in Miss World and other pageants. In addition, the government of Malaysia has been making some nasty remarks about the U.S.. It could explain it, although if the case, it would be very sad nowadays…
- Backstage Trouble. We never know what goes on on the pageant’s backstage, unless we are there! Maybe Miss Malaysia did something that pissed the MU organizers, which might have cost her spot among the finalists. Deborah doesn’t look like the type of girl who would cause trouble, but we never know.

Miss Universe telah berlalu semalam di Sao Paulo, Brazil. As we all know, Miss Angola Laila Lopez was crowned as Miss Universe 2011. Malaysia telah menghantar wakil yang agak bebisa pada tahun ini iaitu gadis kacukan India Malaysia-Irish iaitu Deborah Priya Henry. Beliau dilahir pada 7 Julai 1985 di Dublin namun dibesarkan di Kuala Lumpur.
Beliau merupakan model fesyen Malaysia dan pemenang peraduan ratu cantik Miss Malaysia World 2007. Deborah berjaya memasuki pusingan separuh akhir Miss World 2007 buat pertama kali sejak menyertai Miss World 1998 yang diadakan 9 tahun dahulu. Deborah mula bekerja sebagai model ketika berumur 15 tahun dan bekerja di London selama 7 bulan. Dia juga muncul dalam video musik Estranged, "Itu Kamu". Deborah mempunyai dua ijazah Sarjana Muda Sains dalam bidang sains politik dan ekonomi dari Universiti Queensland, Brisband Australia.
Dia kemudian mengasaskan Open Doors, sebuah pertubuhan amal yang menumpukan hak asasi manusia dan pembangunan boleh kekal, dengan matlamat jangka panjang untuk membasmikan kemiskinan. Deborah suka membaca, mendengar muzik, melancong, dan mereka hidangan dengan menggunakan rempah-rempah Thailand, India, dan Maghribi. Dia juga memelihara seekor anjing Labrador yang dinamai Bailey serta seekor anjing kacukan yang bernama Twinkle sebagai binatang kesayangannya. Seandainya anda perasan, beliau merupakan salah seorang hos rancanga talk show "Bella" yang disiarkan di siaran Ntv7 disamping Elain Daly, Daphne Iking dan Sahsa Basir.

Berikut merupakan ringkasan serba sedikit biodata Queen kesayangan semua termasuk idola saya sendiri. Penglibatan beliau dalam arena ratu cantik ini telah membuka mata ramai peminat ratu cantik di Malaysia dan juga di mata orang luar.

For her evening gown, she chose a non-fussy elegant blue chiffon gown that made HER be the Star--as opposed to you only noticing her gown. It's simple, sexy and fits her perfectly. Yah, maybe true or maybe not. But bias of cause! Apa-apa pun tahun ini Deborah telah mengharumkan nama Malaysia di mata dunia. Walaupun tahun depan Malaysia akan menghantar wakil lain pada pertandingan Miss Universe 2012, namun saya akan berasa lebih gembira seandainya Debbie yang akan bertanding untuk merebut kembali crown yang sepatutnya milik beliau. All the best Debbie, semoga penglibatan beliau dalam arena ini akan membuka lebih banyak peluang untuk beliau lebih menonjolkan bakat & kecantikan beliau di mata dunia kelak.
